Investing in People, Jobs, and a Sustainable Future

I’m running for re-election to continue building a Port that delivers for workers, invests in communities, and leads on sustainability. In my first term, I worked on transformational policies:

Passed a historic $5.6 billion five-year capital plan, ensuring that Port investments directly benefit workers, local businesses, and communities.

Supported $20.1 million in environmental stewardship, $19.4 million for 17 community programs, and $7.1 million to improve the airport experience for travelers and workers alike.

These investments are not just about infrastructure—they are about people-first policies that create good jobs, support working families, and strengthen the regional economy.

The Port’s impact goes beyond numbers—it transforms lives. Our investments sustain 46,800 maritime-related jobs and contribute to 198,200 jobs across the region, ensuring workers have stable, well-paying careers. The aviation sector alone supports 151,400 jobs and generates $22.5 billion in business revenue. I’ve prioritized policies that put workers, small businesses, and communities at the center of our economic growth, while also leading on environmental stewardship and sustainability initiatives to ensure that progress benefits everyone—not just the bottom line.

Protecting Greenspace for Future Generations

I was proud to champion the permanent designation of North SeaTac Park (NSTP) for recreational use, ensuring near-airport communities have access to parks and open spaces. To secure this historic outcome, I worked with community to:

✔ Lead advocacy efforts from Washington State to Washington, D.C., meeting with the FAA and pushing for legislation to secure this public space.
✔ Sponsor the order to protect NSTP, working in partnership with local communities, jurisdictions, and congressional leaders to make long-term preservation a reality.

In the end, I helped deliver on a commitment to environmental stewardship, ensuring future generations can enjoy greenspace, recreation, and a healthier community.

Reducing Aircraft Noise for Near-Airport Communities

To assist frontline communities, I stepped up to:

✔ Sponsor and secure $6.5 million for the Sound Insulation Repair and Replacement Pilot Program, the first of its kind in Port history, addressing noise impacts in near-airport homes.
✔ Work alongside Senator Murray to advance key provisions in federal legislation, ensuring long-term noise mitigation solutions.

Port Workforce Support

Committed to helping expand worker-friendly programs, I worked to implement the ORCA for All pilot program, employee shuttles, and begin studies to improve childcare and healthcare access for Port workers and their families.

Maritime & Economic Development

Committed to this critical economic sector, I work to:

✔ Sponsor and expand cargo incentive programs to enhance supply chain efficiency, including:

  • $9 million for International Container Rail Cargo Incentives.
  • $2 million for the Voyage Consistency and On-Time Arrival Award Program.

Secure funding for five-day gate operations, extended hours, and improved trucking efficiency, strengthening regional trade capacity.
✔ Led the transformation of Fishermen’s Terminal by funding the Maritime Innovation Center (MInC), fostering advancements in the maritime industry.

Community Investments

As a leading voice for community investments, protections for immigrants and the vulnerable, and mitigation of Port impacts, I was:

Instrumental in authorizing $14 million for the South King County Community Impact Fund (SKCCIF), advancing equity, environmental health, and community-led initiatives.
✔ Proud to lead the Maritime Youth Career Launch Program, securing $4.1 million over three years to train and connect underserved youth (ages 16–24) with maritime career opportunities.
✔ Launch the first-ever Equity Budget Dashboard, tracking community investments and setting a baseline for future funding decisions.
✔ Approve a new Language Access Order and co-led the Equity Policy Directive, expanding inclusion and accessibility in Port services.
✔ Back the third annual Business Accelerator Program, in partnership with Business Impact NW, to support small business growth.
✔ Lead the Port Allies Against Human Trafficking (PAAHT) pledge, mobilizing partners and tenants to raise awareness and increase investments in anti-trafficking efforts.

Environment & Sustainability

I am excited by the work we are doing to reduce carbon pollution, invest in clean energy, and do our part to keep our air and water clean. I look forward to building upon my record, which includes:

✔ Sponsoring the nation’s first Shore Power Mandate, requiring all cruise ships at the Port of Seattle to use shore power by 2027, cutting emissions by up to 80%.
✔ Achieving major environmental impact in the 2023 cruise season, avoiding 2,700 metric tons of greenhouse gases, equivalent to removing 650 passenger cars from the road for a year.
✔ Approving funding for the $30M Environmental Legacy Fund, ensuring long-term sustainability investments in alignment with the Century Agenda.

These investments prioritize working people, economic resilience, sustainability, and equity, shaping a stronger future for the region.

With your vote and support, we’ll continue leading a Port that is an economic engine for our region, a good neighbor and employer, and a thoughtful steward of our environment.
